LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) -- One of Kentucky's most wanted fugitives ran and fought with officers before being arrested along a highway in Wyoming.

Authorities tracked 29-year-old John C. Buckley IV to a hotel in Laramie on Wednesday but he ran as they moved in and hid behind underbrush and a dirt berm.

Deputy United States Marshal Justin Stephenson told the Laramie Boomerang that the former Army Ranger fought with officers before his arrest along Interstate 80. He said Buckley wasn't armed and no weapons were found in his room.

Authorities believe Buckley had been in the area for less than a couple of days.

He's being held in Laramie's jail and will be sent to Cheyenne to appear in federal court to be extradited.

He fled in July after being convicted of rape and assault.
