(WHAS11) – Kentucky Senator Rand Paul was in Louisville keeping true to his message he had on the campaign trail.
“It really is a force argument about whether or not the government should force things,” he says.
Paul stopped by Vincenzo's restaurant downtown speaking to a group of attorneys.
Paul talked about the controversial birth control measure in the new health care plan in the Obama administration. It would require religious organizations to offer their employees birth control even if the employers are against it.
The president compromised on the measure but Paul says maybe he really didn't.
“I think the president got dinged on it a little bit and now he sort of thinks he has a middle position when most of us who are thinking about this don’t think he's struck any middle position because we don't want to be told we have to buy something,” says Paul.
Rand Paul also discussed his stance on a federal bill trying to ban synthetic drugs - he is opposed to the bill and is trying to block its passage.
