FRANKFORT, Ky. (WHAS11)—Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear is staying neutral as the Commonwealth Clash approaches.

Beshear said he might have to wear purple if he attends the game on Friday night, but he wants Kentuckians to wear red or blue to support their team.

The Governor is a alumni of UK, for both his undergraduate degree along with his law degree, and has declared Friday “Blue and Red Day” in honor of the matchup.

He said he wishes both teams the best of luck, but he wants to stay neutral.

Friday’s match-up will be the second meeting this season for the Cards and Cats, and the second time in three years they’ve met in the NCAA Tournament.
