LOUISVILLE, Ky. (News Release) – As repairs to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge come to the final phase of construction, all lanes and ramps at the bridge are currently scheduled to be open by August 1.
Once repairs underneath the Kentucky approach to the Kennedy Bridge are completed, the exit ramp from eastbound I-64 to northbound I-65 will open to traffic by 5 a.m. on Monday, July 30.
Paving of the Kentucky approach lanes on Interstate 65 are continuing as well as replacement of a section of the median barrier wall that was removed to build a traffic cross-over. To accommodate this work, the left lanes of Interstate 65 in both directions on the bridge will remain closed until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1.
Any corrective work deemed necessary by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will be done under evening and weekend lane closures.
The construction is being done by MAC Construction and Excavating, of New Albany, Ind. at a cost of $18.2 million.
The schedule and duration of work are subject to change in the event of inclement weather or other unforeseeable delays.
