LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The Kentucky State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Marion County, Ky.  that left one person dead.

Joseph L. Livers III, 38, of Lebanon was transported from his residence, in the 8000 block of St. Joe Road, to Springview Hospital and was pronounced dead a few hours later.

When responding units arrived at the scene Friday morning, they were attempting to establish a perimeter around Livers' residence.

While attempting to make verbal contact with Livers, CVE Officer Jason Morris saw Livers brandish a long gun and point it at the officers. Officer Morris fired his weapon, striking Livers and incapacitating him at about 9:30 a.m.  (EST).

First aid was given at the scene until EMS arrived. 

Commercial Vehicle Officer Jason Morris is an 11-year law enforcement veteran, 7 years with the agency.

No officers were injured.
