LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- More than 1,800 from 40 different Jefferson County Public Schools were invited to the KFC Yum! Center Wednesday to be part of the Journey 14/15 program.

Journey 14/15 is all about kicking off the upcoming school year with not problems.

The students, who may have to overcome challenges to raise the bar in the classroom and at home, will hear speakers like Peyton Siva, UofL women's basketball coach Jeff Walz, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. JCPS superintendent Dr. Donna Hargens will also speak at the event.

"Hopefully, they'll be in a position where they'll stay out of trouble, stay in focus," Robbie Valentine with the KFC Yum! Center said.

WHAS11's Rachel Platt, Renee Murphy and Terry Meiners will emcee the event and will be tweeting throughout, join the conversation at #dosomething.
