JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) – The city of Jeffersonville is awaiting word from the Federal Emergency Management Agency about floodplain revision maps that could save homeowners thousands annually.

The city has suggested changes to FEMA that could move more than 400 homeowners out of the 100-year floodplain.

Insurance agents say flood insurance can cost a homeowner as little as $250 annually or as much as $2400 for a home in a floodplain.
