JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) – Three firefighters from the Jeffersonville Fire Department were taken to the hospital after a single-vehicle accident Saturday evening.

Officials say Truck 45 was responding to a possible house fire after a report of a lightning strike in RainTree Ridge subdivision.

When the department was traveling in heavy rain in the 3100 block of Charlestown Pike, the right tire slid off the road.

The driver couldn’t correct back onto the roadway causing him to slide off the road striking a utility pole and several small trees coming to rest in a creek bed.

Police say the firefighters were transported to the Clark County Emergency Room.

None of the responders suffered any injuries.
