LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Dozens of Jefferson County Public School teachers let their voices be heard as they rallied Monday for higher pay raises.

50 members of the Jefferson County Teachers Association and union members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees picketed outside of the VanHoose Education Center stating the required one percent is not enough.

The JCTA claims Superintendent Donna Hargens refuses to offer more than the required raise and that she’s trying to freeze classified employees’ step raises.

The meeting ended with no conclusion and the board went into executive session.
