FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Democratic Party leaders in Kentucky's largest county have passed a resolution encouraging delegates to the national convention to make same-sex marriage part of the Democratic Party's platform.
The Louisville-Jefferson County Democratic Executive Committee voted 16-3 on Wednesday for the "Freedom to Marry" resolution that cited President Barack Obama's announcement last month that he supports allowing same-sex couples to marry.
The resolution said making gay marriage part of the Democratic platform "is the right thing to do."
