LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Brownsboro Road has reopened after it was shut down in both directions for several hours after an injury accident involving a Jefferson County Public Schools bus.
The accident happened Wednesday just after 8 a.m. when the bus, which was attempting to make a left turn from Birchwood Road to Brownsboro Road, collided with a Mazda. Police later said there was a blind spot in the road due to low trees, so the bus driver pulled into the roadway to look around the tree. The Mazda then tried to avoid the bus, but couldn't.
Ben Jackey with JCPS said nine students were on bus #0157 and seven of those students were transported to the hospital. The students were treated and have since been released.
Police at the scene said two people in the Mazda were taken to University Hospital with serious injuries.
