LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- On Monday night, the Jefferson County Public School Board voted to give teachers and non-administrative employees a raise of one percent.

The board approved Superintendent Donna Hargens’s recommendation to spend $5.5 million on the raises which are effective July 1.

All administrative positions such as principals will have their salaries frozen for one year.

The money for the raises will come from the district's general fund.
