LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A new movie released last month is creating a lot of buzz around Louisville.

The Purge: Anarchy is the violent sequel to The Purge where there is a 12-hour period where crime is allowed by the government.

Since the movies began, certain cities have been targeted on social media, setting dates and times for the purge to happen.

It's concerning to parents who are hearing about it from their children and WHAS11 has received multiple emails and Facebook messages of concern asking what it means.

Now, police are weighing in as well.

Sgt. Phil Russell with Metro Police has more in the video player above.
