Indiana man arrested for breaking into car after owner catches him

Justin Pettit, 22, was arrested in the late hours of April 16 on charges of possession of burglary tools, assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Louisville, Ky. (WHAS11) - An Indiana man arrested for breaking into a car after the owner caught him in the act.

Justin Pettit, 22, was arrested in the late hours of April 16 on charges of possession of burglary tools, assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to police reports, the owner of the car noticed someone inside the vehicle, which was left unlocked and parked outside the Marriott Hotel on S. 2nd Street. The owner of the car then confronted Pettit, who tried to flee the scene.

Police said the victim had Pettit subdued on the ground when they arrived on the scene. After searching Pettit, police said they found the victim's personal items inside his backpack, as well as a hypodermic needle and tools commonly used for breaking into vehicles.
