INDIANAPOLIS (WHAS11) – An Indiana lawmaker is proposing a license plate tax of $20 to $50 per car to pay for road projects.
Senate Appropriations Chairman Luke Kenley says that tax could raise roughly $300 million for road maintenance and new road projects.
The state Department of Transportation faces a budget shortfall as high as $200 million.
