Columbus, Ind. (WHAS11) – Indiana State Police are investigating an accident after two teens who were reported as runaways crashed a vehicle on I-65 near State Road 58.
Police say one of their troopers were en route to training when he noticed a car speeding and slowing down and swerving on the emergency strip. When he tried to stop the vehicle, the car took off at a high rate of speed.
The driver, a 13-year-old runaway from Indianapolis, was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Her passenger, a 17-year-old, was flown by helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. His injuries are not known at this time.
