JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. (NEWS RELEASE) – Contractors have completed the installation of lighted handrails for straight sections of the Indiana approach ramp to the Big Four Bridge.

Contractors got the curved sections of the railing on Wednesday from the manufacturers in Wisconsin. The materials will be on site beginning Thursday, May 1.

INDOT said they are trying to expedite the process by picking up the order from the manufacturer.

“By picking up the railing directly from the manufacturer, the project team is now able to work during the time we would have been waiting on the materials to be shipped,” INDOT chief of staff Troy Woodruff said. “Hummel recognizes INDOT’s desire to get this project done as quickly as possible so it is available the citizens of Jeffersonville and Louisville to enjoy all summer.”

Hummel Electric has said that installation of the curved railing is more complex than the straight sections and will take approximately 20 fair weather working days to complete.
