COLUMBUS, Ind. (WHAS11) – A woman has been arrested after Indiana State Police say she fled the scene of an accident.
Police say the pursuit started when 29-year-old Ami Whitfield was going 89 mph in a 55 mph zone.
According to scanner traffic, Columbus Police say Whitfield’s Chevrolet Equinox fit the description of a vehicle leaving a scene where a pedestrian was struck while pushing their moped.
Officers say the chase continued through Hartsville where Whitfield abandoned her vehicle and fled on foot. Whitfield was apprehended a short time later without incident.
She’s facing numerous charges including leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, resisting arrest with a vehicle as well as fleeing and evading.
Whitfield is currently booked at the Bartholomew County Jail.
