(WHAS11)—As of Saturday, people with an 812 area code should start using 10-digit dialing when they make local calls.

This change comes because of the 930 area code that will be added to the same geographic region of Indiana in the fall.

State officials want residents to start adjusting to the change, but standard 7 digit dialing locally will continue to work until the changeover is completed in early September.
