LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – America’s most popular light bulbs are about to become much harder to find.
Incandescent light bulbs will start phasing out on January 1.
American companies will no longer be able to manufacture or import the glass bulbs which use heated wires to generate light.
The phase-out of the traditional 40 and 60-watt light bulbs is part of a 2007 energy efficiency law signed former President George W. Bush.
Instead of incandescent, consumers will find more efficient LED, halogen or fluorescent bulbs.
You can still purchase incandescent bulbs that are already on store shelves but once their gone, they will not be restocked.
