(WHAS11) – A set of twins came in last at a state track meet in Illinois last weekend.
13-year-olds Chloe and Claire Gruenke were running the 800 when Chloe said she felt something pull and pop in her leg.
She couldn’t continue the race and fell to the ground.
That’s when Claire put her sister on her back and they finished the race together.
She said she did it because sportsmanship is more important than winning.
“Love and sportsmanship, even if you lose and help somebody it’s still worth it. The energy from the crowd made me stronger,” Claire said.
Even though they came in last, they definitely won the hearts of everyone who watched a special moment between sisters unfold on the field.
