LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – One of the Highland’s iconic music stores is closing after its owner says he’s ready to get back to music.

Jimmy Brown and his wife have owned the Guitar Emporium located at Bonnycastle Avenue and Bardstown Road for decades.

Brown says he’s running the music shop since he was 21 and while it’s been great, he’s ready to get back to his true passion of being a musician.

“It’s great, I love our store. I love it. I’m going to miss it,” Brown said. “It’s doing well and it’s just sometimes it feels like the time is right to do something and that’s where we’re at.”

Brown said he and his wife have been trying to sell the business but if that doesn’t work out, they will sell off whatever is left inside the store.

Guitar Emporium is schedule to close on March 9.
