WASHINGTON CO, Ind. (WHAS11)—A Massachusetts man is behind bars in Indiana after a four year investigation into alleged sexual misconduct.

Police say 50-year-old David M. Walsh was arrested Friday on charges of sexual misconduct with a minor, child solicitation and inappropriate communication with a minor.  He remains in the Washington County, Ind. jail awaiting his first court appearance.

Police said Walsh spent years on the internet using the alias, David M. Walls, to solicit young girls. In 2009, police say Walsh gained the trust of a 14-year-old girl from Washington County.

One day in November of that year, the victim and Walsh decided to meet at an address on North Franklin School Road. According to the police report, this is where he allegedly had sex with the girl, whom he knew to be 14.  Walsh was 46 at the time.

Indiana State Police said the use of the alias and the fake addresses kept Walsh off their radar for years, until October of 2013. Walsh was still in contact with the victim and police said he sent one too many emails to her, allowing them to make the connection to his real name.

A tip to police helped them intercept him on Friday afternoon during an attempt to meet with the victim, who is now 18.

Police think there may be more victims and ask anyone who knows Walsh, either online or in person, to contact the ISP post in Sellersburg at 812-246-5424.
