CARROLL COUNTY, Ky. (WHAS11)—The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is preparing for an emergency bridge repair on 1-71S Bridge over the Kentucky River in Carroll County.
The bridge is at the 44 mile-marker between the Carrollton and English exits on the interstate.
A rolling road block began at 11 p.m. and no traffic will be permitted on the structure until repairs are completed.
Engineers estimated that the bridge would be closed for at least six hours.
Traffic is detoured to the Markland Dam at exit 55 to US 42 westbound, to KY 55 back to the interstate.
The reason for the emergency repair is several finger bridge joints popped up causing a safety concern.
Residents can call 511 for the latest information on road conditions throughout Kentucky.
