WARSAW, Ky. (WHAS11) – Interstate 71 near Gallatin County, Kentucky is back open after a truck carrying horses jackknifed and overturned.
Police say 51-year-old Jeffrey Givens of Tennessee was traveling south on I-71 when his truck veered off the roadway just after 8:30 a.m. They say Givens corrected, coming back onto the roadway and immediately jackknifing hitting a guardrail.

The truck overturned trapping Givens and his passenger 53-year-old Tim Taylor. Givens was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Taylor was trapped in the vehicle and had to be mechanically removed. Taylor was transported to University of Cincinnati Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the three horses in the trailer were also killed in the crash.
Southbound I-71 was closed for almost 5 hours.
