(WHAS11) - Interstate 64 is the latest roadway in Kentucky to get an overhaul.
The widening project is beginning this week.
Its located half mile west of the Jefferson Shelby county line to the Simpsonville exit in Shelby County.
The roadway will be widened to three lanes in each direction.
Two lanes of traffic will be open during the majority of the construction project but there will be some lane closures during the overnight hours.
The project costs about $35.6 million and will be completed in the summer of 2011.
