POSEYVILLE, Ind. (WHAS11) – Indiana State Police are investigating a crash on I-64 near Poseyville which injured a Louisville couple and a state trooper.

Police say Trooper Wes Alexander was driving westbound near the 12.5 marker with his emergency lights on just after 4 p.m.

According to the report, his vehicle left the roadway for some unknown reason, crossed the median and entered the southbound lanes striking a Mercury Sable driven by 63-year-old Sherri Jones of Louisville.

Police say both vehicles came to rest on the south side of I-64 after the impact.

Jones and her husband passenger John were transported to Deaconess Hospital where they are both being treated for serious injuries.

Trooper Alexander was also being treated at Deaconess Hospital for a head injury. Police say it is non-life threatening.

Police closed I-64 at the Poseyville exit for a short time while they investigated.
