LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Kentuckiana bourbon lovers had the chance to get their hands on the rare Pappy Van Winkle bourbon Monday night.

It’s known as one of the best bourbons around but it’s produced in very low quantities in Franklin County.

Party Mart’s owner held a lottery for customers which attracted a large crowd at the Brownsboro Road store.

Tickets were handed out around 8 p.m. and the drawing a short time later.

The bourbon, a 4th generation family recipe, is usually released in November.

An estimated 650 people attended the special lottery.
