LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) - It could be another week before we learn the fate of a Louisville baby on life support.
A hearning was held on July 15 to decide if the baby's mother or the hospital gets to decide if he stays on life support.
According to doctors at Kosair Children's Hospital, Issac Lopez was declared brain dead nearly two weeks ago.
The hospital is using a ventialtor and other measures to “maintain the appearance of life," but they say the baby is medically dead with no chance of recovery.
However the baby's mother is not willing to end life support, and her attorney said it's not the court's decision.
The judge allowed attorneys for both sides to provide written arguments before she rules on which party has the authority to decide baby Isaac's fate.
The boy was brought to the hospital at the beginningof the month after his father allegedly hit his head on the wall and bathtub.
His father, Juan Alejandro Lopez Rosales, has been charged with first degree criminal abuse and is being held on a $100,000 bond.
