LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Almost a week after a water main break caused flooding in the Highlands, the intersection Eastern Parkway and Baxter Avenue is open to traffic.

Baxter Avenue opened to traffic as of 2:45 p.m.

Castlewood Avenue will open later Wednesday afternoon after workers finish striping the road.

A few days after a boil water advisory was lifted, the Louisville Water Company finished repairs to the water main that caused the flooding, but the intersection remained closed.

Officials said paving began Sunday, April 27, but the Louisville Water Company had to wait for the weather to cooperate so they could finish paving the intersection.

Thursday's water main break affected a huge portion of the Highlands and left many without water or with low water pressure.
