LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Emergency crews were dispatched to a tractor trailer leaking military waste near Shepherdsville Tuesday afternoon, according to sources at the scene of the spill.
The truck is from Middletown, Connecticut and was transporting that waste from the northeast.
WHAS11 has learned multiple hazardous materials were on-board, but only one was leaking. The substance is believed to be inorganic lead.
The incident happened Tuesday afternoon at a rest area off of I-65 south of Sherpherdsville, Ky. The rest area was closed while crews cleaned up the spill.
MetroSafe and Bullitt County dispatch said at the time that the truck was carrying 30 drums of an unknown substance.
