HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. (WHAS11) -- The Harrison County Babe Ruth 16 to 18-year-old team is heading to the Ohio Valley Regional Championships this weekend in Wisconsin.

“It’s a dream come true,” 17-year-old Ethan Wright, one of the team’s players, said.

The group practices two to three times a week and is made up of students from four area high schools.

They beat out four teams to make it to the regional championships, but they are hoping for some help getting there.

“With us having to travel to Bloomington last weekend, we had several families that really incurred a lot of costs,” team manager John Harter said. “We’re looking to try to raise some money to help offset some of those costs for traveling to Wisconsin this weekend.”

The players say the community’s support helps them not only get to the big game, but it also helps them once they’re there.

“It gives us confidence to play better and know that we have fan support,” Wright said.

“Sports brings communities together, it’s something everybody enjoys,” 17-year-old Mitch Bowlin said.
