CLARK COUNTY, Ind. (WHAS11) – In a vote Tuesday evening, the Greater Clark Community School board has decided to extend the school day for their students.
The decision comes after officials realized they needed additional time to prepare for state assessments which includes the ISTEP.
The extra 45 minute move will give teachers more instructional time and it will focus on language arts and mathematics.
The bonus for the district is it will shorten the school year by three days if there are no more school closings.
The move is scheduled to take effect April 7 through May 9.
The last day of school for GCCS is June 6.
