(WHAS11) --After a closed door meeting Tuesday night Greater Clark County school board members say negotiations with Superintendent Stephen Daeschner went well.
School Board President Christina Gilkey says they gave Daeschner three options if he wants to stay in the school system. Gilkey says Daeschner can keep his current position with a pay cut, move to another position in the school system, or leave. Daeschner’s contract is up June 30, the board says they will make a decision by December 20 at a public meeting.
Daeschner became superintendent for Greater Clark County in 2009; he is currently being paid $225,000 a year. The school board says they can no longer afford that salary.
Daeschner told WHAS11 after the meeting that he felt it went well but would not say if he is willing to take the pay cut.
