FRANKFORT, Ky. (WHAS11) – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear tackled child abuse in Frankfort.

In a session Monday afternoon, he signed a proclamation naming April Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Advocates say neglect continues to be the largest type of abuse in Kentucky and the leading contributor to death and serious injury.

The group Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky says one in 10 children will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday.
