FRANKFORT, Ky. (WHAS11) – Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear signed a bill banning sales of electronic cigarettes to minors.
Lawmakers approved the bill earlier this month as they wrapped up the 2014 Legislative Session.
The bill bans stores from selling the popular e-cigarettes to anyone under 18.
The governor says the sale of e-cigarettes is troubling for the Commonwealth.
State law already bans minors from buying tobacco products but this legislation adds e-cigarettes, which are battery-powered and emit a vapor instead of smoke.
They don’t have tobacco but do contain nicotine.
