SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Girls began lining up 14 hours before the door opened for a free prom dress giveaway in South Bend.

South Bend-area high school girls had a chance to browse through 1,100 formal and semi-formal dresses at the 10th annual Princess for a Night event Saturday at Century Center.

Adams High School sophomore Taso Dzeneta told the South Bend Tribune there were "so many pretty dresses" but she was happy with the mint-green dress she and her mother found.

Ziker Cleaners and the Junior League of South Bend organize the event each year by collecting donated dresses that are new or lightly used, and then allowing local high school students to choose their favorites from among the racks.
