LEXINGTON - The University of Kentucky has received its largest gift in school history after alumnus and trustee Bill Gatton donated $20 million.

The money will go toward building a new student center on the Lexington campus, which will include spaces for study and student activities, as well as dining options and a new bookstore.

The student center, which will cost $175 million, is expected to open in 2017.

This puts the car dealership mogul’s total UK donations over $45 million, most visibly on the university’s Gatton School of Business.
