(WHAS11) -- Hall of fame jockey Garret Gomez is recovering after being thrown from a horse Thursday; but says he will race in this weekend's Breeders’ Cup contests.
Gomez was thrown from the 3-year-old filly, Indy Bouquet, Thursday afternoon at Churchill Downs.
The horse suffered serious injuries and had to be euthanized.
Some European trainers have complained the turf track is too hard because of Kentucky’s drought.
Gomez has a bruised shoulder but will race Friday and Saturday.
He is riding Blame, a primary challenger to Zenyatta in the Breeders' Cup Classic.
