VERONA, Ky. (WHAS11) – Kentucky State Police are investigating a man’s death after an officer-involved shooting in Gallatin County on Saturday.
According to police, Deputy Edwin Caldwell was dispatched to the 6600 block of Highway 16 around 5:00 p.m. on a report of an intoxicated man in the area.
Police say when Deputy Caldwell arrived on the scene, he was approached by 41-year-old Gary Burdine who pulled a gun and threatened the officer.
They add that Deputy Caldwell drew his gun and shot Burdine and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
It is an ongoing investigation.
