GREENVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Hundreds gathered to say their goodbyes Saturday afternoon after a mother and her 8 children perished in a Muhlenberg County fire last week.

"It's a close family and we're going to miss them all," George Caskey, a family friend said.

Nine white caskets lined the Martin Hall auditorium on the west campus of Muhlenberg County High School, in Greenville, KY. A photo of Nikki Watson and her eight children rested on top of each one.

"The kids are gone from us, but they've gone to be with the Lord," Caskey said.

Caskey watched Chad and Nikki raise their nine children in a church community, at Calvary Baptist Church, in Central City. He says all nine were baptized by their father and grandfather.

"We know where they're at, and we know where we're going too," Caskey said.

The father, Chad Watson, and his 11-year-old daughter, Kylie, are still recovering at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Funeral costs were handled by country music group, The Band Perry and Tucker Funeral Home.

The Watson family was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery following Saturday's service.
