RADCLIFF, Ky. (WHAS11) -- In a community dealing with two tragic accidents, IA Tattoo Studios felt they had to do something to help.
"People have been coming out and getting tattoos just to show their support. It's been amazing we've had people sending donations to the Harig family here," said Owner Larry Young.
Young says their shop has done 24 tattoos and raised about a thousand dollars for Mickayla Harig who was severely injured in a car accident by a suspected drunk driver. Harig’s friend Brianna Taylor was killed in that crash.
“We’re raising the money for their family to put toward medical bills or whatever they are going to go through during this time. I’m sure there's so much that most people wouldn't even take into consideration financial aspect of all this,” said Young.
Young says they've been surprised to see even non-tattoo people showing their permanent support for Harig.
“They're going through the worst thing in their lives. The only thing we can do is be there to support and love them the best we can and to see so many people that we personally never knew come out and just show their support for no reason. We've had churches sending in donations and it's great to see stereotypes overcoming each other for the greater good,” he said.
Harig is now in stable condition at University Hospital. There is a benefit concert planned for Harig and the Taylor siblings July 27th at Freeman lake in Elizabethtown.
