LOUISVILLE, Ky – Michael Felker’s trumpet could be heard in venues across the country.
Felker, 37, died Sunday night from a gunshot wound to his chest. His stepfather George Geary, 72, admitted to police he shot Felker during an argument.
“Mike was a life changer for me,” Justin Lewis, who played with Felker said. “Not just musically, but also graciously. He was always so friendly. His actions always reminded me to be good and great to everyone.”
Lewis and Felker toured together for the last three years. He describes Felker as a talent, kind guy who could play anything – anytime.
“Him and I have played everywhere from huge theaters to tiny restaurants,” Lewis said. “Every show was a musical experience I could not have shared with anyone else.”
Geary will be arraigned Tuesday morning.
