(WHAS11)-Five people are behind bars in Bullitt County facing charges in a series of burglaries stretching from Bullitt County to Louisville.

Police say Edward Savelli was the ringleader and Steven Watson helped him carry out the burglaries.
Father and son Jacob and Thomas Houtchins are charged with receiving stolen property and Caroline Pond faces charges too.

Police say the burglaries happened over a two to three week period.

They caught one burglar in the act Tuesday morning and tracked down another in a van which had been spotted at several scenes.

Many of the stolen items were recovered but police say some of the jewelry taken was sold and melted down.

Det. Buddy Stump with the Mt. Washington Police Department said, "We do have some TVs, jewelry boxes, what have you. We're doing our best to try and get those tied to specific cases and contacting the victims and saying come identify your property."

Stump says the arrests have cleared several cases so far and more are expected to be cleared in the coming days.
