LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The second floor of a Highlands home is gone after a fire broke out Monday night.
Firefighters spent an hour putting out the flames at the home in the 2300 block of Glenmary Avenue just off Bardstown Road.
A tenant whose belongings were destroyed said the blaze started in the attic.
She said she ran downstairs to warn her other neighbors in the building.
"My dog's OK, and all my neighbors are okay and not everything is completely destroyed so I am thankful,” Kristin Shelor, a tenant, said.
The fire department has not released an official cause of the fire. Two tenants will get housing assistance from the Red Cross.
No injuries were reported and firefighters are working to determine the cause.
