LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A home near Cherokee Park was heavily damaged in a fire Saturday evening.
Firefighters were called to the 1700 block of Spring Drive around 8:30.
No one was home when the fire broke out but firefighters say there was a dog inside who did not survive.
Neighbors say flames were shooting from the second floor.
“The flames were probably 30 to 40 feet above the house and it looked like they had extinguished and then it jumped back up again about 20 to 30 feet about the house and coming out both sides of the eaves,” neighbor Mike Sullivan said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
