LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- After the classic galas come to an end and the elegant balls wind down, an entirely different type of Derby Eve party turns up.
When they're done with their official appearances, celebrities join a sea of the young, rich and fabulous at what's become one of the most exclusive after-hours events in town: The Fillies and Stallions Party.
The dance party starts at 10 p.m. Oaks night and goes well into the early morning hours. It's an appropriate kick-off to Derby Day since the Run for the Roses directly inspired this event.
On Derby 2009, Mine That Bird won at 50-1 odds and one of the event organizers bet an exacta. A $1,000 bet into more than a million dollars! It was the second-highest exacta payout in Kentucky Derby history.
Expanding their LA and Tampa based event production company to Louisville, the team launched the event in Louisville in 2011. Organizers haven't released names of the celebrities they expect to fill the hall this year, but over the last four years, the red carpet has included Shaq, Aaron Rodgers, Ashton Kutcher, Joey Fatone, Erin Andrews and Scottie Pippin.
The organizers don't pack the Mellwood Arts Center with Celebrities and models only. Others do have a chance at an invite to the private party, but your application must include a photo. They'll decide if you qualify to rub elbows with the beautiful, rich and famous.
Local promotions for the Fillies and Stallions party are being handled by Russ Renbarger at Red Tag Ideas. For more information on the event contact email@example.com, https://www.facebook.com/FilliesAndStallions
