LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – The federal government is telling people how they can get assistance after last week's damaging floods.
On Tuesday, President Barack Obama declared several Kentucky counties as federal disasters.
Those include Casey, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Metcalfe, Rockcastle, Rowan, and Woodford.
FEMA still has crews in the area surveying the damage, and they say that other counties may be declared disasters.
People in those counties are now eligible for assistance which can include temporary housing and home repairs, also low cost loans to cover uninsured property losses.
Residents can start applying for assistance on Wednesday by calling 1-800-621-FEMA.
Calls can be made between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
