LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – After arrests were made Friday in connection with the death of an infant, the father of the child spoke out about her murder.

Six-month-old Ariah Phillips died from abusive head trauma in 2011. The infant’s mother, Whitney Phillips, and her boyfriend, James McElroy, were indicted for her murder.

“Me being a father, I feel like any father. You got kids [and] it’s the father’s responsibility to protect your kids and me not being there at the time, I had other things [and] I was somewhere else. I gotta live with that for the rest of my life. My daughter got beaten to death and I wasn’t there to protect her,” Aria’s father, James Moore, said.

According to court documents, Whitney Phillips caused torture, cruel confinement and cruel punishment against the infant.
