LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A house fire on a cold day in March was tragic. A woman was found dead inside the home located in the Algonquin neighborhood.

As it turned out, the story wasn’t what it seemed. Authorities thought the fire inside Vernice Aniton’s home was accidental but a closer look revealed it was intentional.

Aniton had been killed before the fire started.

Grieving family members returned to the site to remember Aniton whose voice they say they can still hear on the other end of the phone.

Anchor Doug Proffitt takes us inside the memorial to learn about the murder victim and the plea for a possible suspect to turn himself in.
